Paul goes to a higher level
September 2009
Paul Londors, Manager at the Crow Lane branch of Hevey has successfully passed a nationally recognised qualification for senior management. The Institute of Leadership Management (ILM) Level 5 Award in Management (delivered as a VRQ level 5) provides
practicing or potential managers the foundation for their formal development in their managerial role. The qualification does this by developing upper middle management skills and assisting participants in developing the kind of thinking processes required to succeed at this level.
Neil Hemmington, Director of Hevey said “We are very excited about Paul achieving this award as it has enabled him to gain a qualification that is relevant to general management and specifically within the building industry. Paul’s commitment to gaining this qualification has been exemplary and as a company we are already beginning to see the benefits in his day to day management. It has allowed him to think more strategically about where the branch is going and how it fits with the company as a whole.”

Paul is the first to admit that it has changed the way he thinks about his role “I thoroughly enjoyed the course and it has given me the tools to become the best possible leader to my staff. It has also enabled me to take a fresh look at how we are doing things and how they fit within the overall company plan. By using tried and tested management frameworks it also ensures that I am thinking and acting strategically. My management skills have been improved as a result.”
Mark Mulvey, Operations Director endorses this point “Paul’s ability to think outside the box has improved and now he takes the time to come up with a number of solutions to any challenge we face and this has led to improved decision making which has benefited all. Hevey are absolutely committed to providing our staff with the absolute best training we can find to ensure we are able to compete in tough trading conditions. We believe our staff are our most important asset and we have a plan in place to ensure they achieve as much as they can both personally and professionally.”
