Hevey sponsors awards ceremony

Hevey has long been a supporter of the local community in which it operates through sponsorship of a variety of local initiatives.

In a further commitment to local good causes we recently sponsored the Northamptonshire Community Foundation (NCF) Awards ceremony, which took place at Cripps Hall in Northampton on 11th November 2009.

Thirty groups from across the county were shortlisted in one of six award categories. All the shortlisted groups received funding from the Northamptonshire Community Foundation in 2007-8 – funding which enabled the projects to get off the ground and flourish.

Award winners included Friends of Delapre Abbey in Northampton, Bridge Substance Misuse Programme in Northampton/Corby, Dostiyo Asian Women and Girls Association in Northampton, Late Developers Photographic Group – Corby, and finally Adrenaline Alley in Corby.

Of the event Mark Mulvey, Managing Director of Hevey said “Hevey is a friend of the NCF, which delivers funding from local companies like ourselves to local good causes in the voluntary and community sector. The money Hevey makes available to the NCF supports the communities where we live, work and play so the funding raised stays right here in Northamptonshire. This is really important to us and we are delighted to continue our support to the NCF.”

Mark continues “The NCF ticks a lot of boxes for us. Number one is our desire to provide financial support to local groups and the NCF is a great vehicle for us to get money to ‘worthy causes’. We are often approached by groups seeking support and to ensure they are given every opportunity we direct them to the NCF where they are given help with the application and offered expert advice on a range of issues.”

Jessica Pilkington, Fund Development Manager of the Northamptonshire Community Foundation, explained: “Via our Friends programme we are able to distribute grants to Northamptonshire groups and these awards were our chance to recognise and reward groups that have proved themselves particularly exceptional and life changing. It is thanks to forward thinking companies like Hevey Building Supplies that we are able to make all this possible”
